102 Beginning Ministerial Internship: Student Manual
Time is the greatest contributor. Giving children undivided attention and helping with needed explanations can
arm them to deal effectively with their difficulties.
30 When should ministers offer explanation, and when should they keep their children from knowing too much
about a situation?
If children have been exposed to information, they must have help dealing with their residual feelings. If the
children are not affected by such information, the minister should not expose them to greater risk.
31 Think of a minister’s child who seemed to need more attention. What did you observe about the child?
Personal response
32 In what way is discipling your own children your greatest responsibility?
Ministers who cannot manage their own household are not equipped to appropriately influence the households
of others. Our children are the greatest legacy we will leave to this world. They see us most clearly, and our
efforts for them reveal our own character most clearly.
33 How can overhearing his or her parents’ difficulties be damaging to a child?
The child can possess information that he or she is unable to face, emotionally. Children can be very candid in
their views of people. One misstep and the child can carry negative feelings toward a person for a long while.
34 What steps can you take to demonstrate patience with the growth of your own children?
This will be a personal response. Be sure it includes allowing the child to make mistakes and learn the same
issues other children must learn.
UNIT PROGRESS EVALUATION 4 AND FINAL EXAMINATION
You have now concluded all of the work in this student manual. Review the lessons in this unit carefully,
and then answer the questions in the last unit progress evaluation (UPE). When you have completed
the UPE, check your answers with the answer key provided in Essential Course Materials at the back
of this manual. Review any items you may have answered incorrectly. Review for the closed-book final
examination by studying the course objectives, lesson objectives, and UPEs. Review any lesson content
necessary to refresh your memory. If you review carefully and are able to fulfill the objectives, you should
have no difficulty passing the closed-book final examination.
