The Future Aspect of the Kingdom

this command the Great Commission. Remembering this, Peter writes,
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.
He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to
come to repentance” (v. 9). We can thus hasten the Lord’s coming by
preaching the gospel to all nations.

                                                   Conclusion

The kingdom of God has two aspects: a present aspect and a future
aspect. It is a Kingdom that has come, and yet it is still coming. In this
chapter, we looked at the future aspect of the Kingdom when Jesus will
come again. When He comes, He will set up His kingdom in all the earth.
It will begin with a 1000-year reign on earth. This is called the millennial
kingdom. After that, it will become an eternal kingdom and will last
forever. In the next chapter, we will begin a biblical survey of the kingdom
of God by looking at what the Old Testament teaches about the subject.
