                    apostasy           the act of forsaking completely a previous loyalty,
                                       such as a religious faith

                    atonement          reconciliation of God and man through the sacrificial
                                       death of Jesus Christ
                    condemnation        blame; the act of pronouncing guilty

                    conditional        dependent upon the terms of an agreement

                    conversion         the act of turning from sin to the Lord Jesus for
                                       forgiveness of sins, which includes a complete
                                       turnabout involving every part of a person’s being

                    credit             the balance in one’s favor; something entrusted
                                       to another

                    determinism         belief that God determined in eternity past that
                                       some should be saved and have eternal life and
                                       some should be eternally lost

                    election           the divine choice of nations or communities for
                                       special privileges with reference to the performance
                                       of services; the divine choice of individuals to
                                       a particular office or work; the divine choice of
                                       individuals to be the children of God and heirs of
                                       eternal life

                    fatalism            belief that events are fixed in advance and that
                                       human beings are powerless to change them; a
                                        belief in or attitude determined by this doctrine
                    foreordination     refers to God’s determination in eternity to save
                                       those who accept His Son and the offer of salvation

                    glorification       the work when God completes our salvation, making
                                        us morally perfect for eternity and bringing us into
                                       His presence in a body like Christ’s glorious body

                     intercession      prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of another
